Redemption & Salvation
Good day, Good day. It's coffee time in Questionopolis, a time to sit quietly and think about the week and project forward what can be done based on what has happened. The new week brings an opportunity to change things, to make improvements since we cannot go back in time, only march forward. I sit and I wonder as my mind wanders...wanders through a myriad of instances and opportunities from last week to this one. This brings me to a defining word that I was searching for; Redemption.
The opportunity to improve is a shot at redemption, however, what is redemption? The definition that I found was already flawed as it included the academically incorrect base of the word that is should be defining. Redemption: The act of redeeming. Hmmm, so what is redeeming? Serving to offset or compensate for a defect. I accept that as a better explanation and it certainly brings more clarity to what defines redemption. Yeah, I've had a defective week. Que your laugh, then think...you did too-right? We laugh together on this one readers. Laughter immediately brings about a positive energy and to laugh at ourselves is objective and good.
The Sunday morning reflection that I do is not a time I reserve to beat up on myself, it is simply a search for improvement. This is the time that I ask the question of myself that I mentioned previously and it begins with "what if I..." Despite the need for improvement we should also take note of the good and positive things that we did - the mythical pat on the back to ourselves. There's always room to improve - balance, balance in thought is important here too.
To me, for my business, it was a good week, for me personally there were flaws. There is a confluence of business and personal worlds that is unavoidable. In reflection I had to seek an outside opinion as I really struggled with some things. In full disclosure, Answerman is not very pliable in my thought process. Once I make a decision it is etched in stone. I had gone against my own normal decision making and really questioned myself. In seeking the outside opinion I was certain that I would be told that the decision I made was a mistake. I was told that no, it was not a mistake but an opportunity.
This is how we arrived at this week's column, blog, discussion etc. Redemption....Serving to offset or compensate for a defect. I will save the deep dive into details. If all of us provide or create an opportunity for redemption stick to it even if is unusual for you. The redeeming qualities of the situation could in fact create an additional opportunity, one for salvation. In non-religious terms salvation is defined as; Preservation from destruction or failure; deliverance from danger and difficulty.
The Answerman says "Taking a course toward redeeming oneself, or providing that to another is a positive motion. The redemption could further provide a course for salvation. Be good, Be safe."
