The lack of humanity
Good day my dear blog readers and followers. As promised I have ventured into new subject matter because I feel so compelled to bring additional notice to the lack of humanity in human behavior. There is some risk that at times this will devolve into a personal rant, however, my hope is that it will shine a light on social behaviors and human interactions- behaviors that will allow us all to change the world in a more positive way.
The subject matter will vary and is more serious, so don't let the initial volley scare you away if you had enjoyed the humorous tilt of e-dating and the new realtity. This will be different but will still have humor, just not as much initially as the new year has opened with news that is neither joyful but must be addressed in our ether and electronic driven world. Yes, world, but I will open with something more local to Questionopolis.
I truly believe that we all have a social responsibility to make the world a better place for everyone around us, in some way, everyday. Every... Single...Day.
I live my life guided by what my great friend JF describes as a "very strong moral compass." I don't disagree. I do not expect others to act exactly like me, we are all individuals. However, the recent lack of respect for humanity is deeply concerning to the point that I created this blog to address it- particularly since my last blog was read in 12 countries across the globe.
In very direct and general terms the idea of bringing a child into this world comes with great responsibility. At times there are those that cannot live up to these responsibilities and sometimes allow the child to be adopted, and at other unfortunate times social welfare authorities take the children away from the irresponsible and try their best to place them in a better environment.
Most, but not all of these social welfare workers are driven by altruism and true desire to make the world a better place. I applaud them. The bad apples among that group are fodder for another time. The burnout rate is high and unfortunate. The pay scale, in my opinion is too low for the challenges they try to overcome for the common good.
There are also those that volunteer to be Foster Parents or Adoptive Parents. These are also mostly people driven to make the world better for children and normalize the growth of our children placed in the "system." Foster parents and Adoptive parents in many cases are those that cannot have their own children for various reasons. To the great and wonderful, warm and loving among them- (and I am related to a few) I not only applaud them, I recongnize them as true heroes. Pause, think about it and let it sink in. Yes, they are heroes.
It is with great misfortune that all of the readers are arriving at the point of the blog where this ties together the title and the subject matter. There are devils in the system. Smiling photos of adopted child Grace Packer have been circulated for months and saturated news cast more recently. Grace was raped, murdered and dismembered by her adoptive "mother," Sara and Sara's boyfriend Jacob Sullivan. It sickens me to use the title mother-- the woman doesn't deserve it in any way. They further spread her dismembered body in the cold, dark woods of upstate Pennsylvania as if discarding garbage. Sara Packer and Jacob Sullivan cannot even rise to the level of being garbage. They are excrement in human flesh.
The really disturbing part of this is that Sara Packer was Supervisor for a county authority for children, youth and family adoptions. The very idea that someone put in a position of authority in an area responsible for human welfare, humanity itself is at the base of this is beyond disturbing it is disgusting and demonic. More detail will follow. We must all be vigilant and protect all of the children, not just those that we created.
I recognized the faces. I have crossed paths with all three. I did not know them, however, I wish that Grace had been one of the kids that I was responsible for mentoring. We are held to a significant level of responsibility, even as volunteers, to notify authorities if anything abusive is apparent. Grace was not afforded the public connection to mentors and adults who could protect her. It makes me sick. The press has decided to describe Sara in negative terms, such as "ham-faced," which is fine with me for the wicked are owed nothing. However, the reality is that the negativity in hindsight does nothing for humanity now. We must take our ounce of prevention and find a way to make the ounce worth gallons.
Someone in my family who is one of many where my "Answerman" moniker was born told me that the death penalty is "on the table" in this case. I will give a final response....I am the Answerman afterall;
The Answerman says "The return of public stoning as the final death penalty for Sara Packer and Jacob Sullivan should be immediate. Further, it should be the punishment for anyone who kills a child or causes harm to a child. This very public event should follow the guides of other cultures where everyone, even the children can cast a stone. I want to be first and last.
Once all of the villagers have cast their stones then they can backup the 5 ton dump truck as they do elsewhere just to ensure the finality of ridding the world of these monsters." There is a sharp lesson both taught and learned herein. Yes, I know, that is "inhumane" as an idea. I don't care-because it will still make the world a better place to grow and laugh and smile if we can rid it of anyone who wants to hurt a child. Sometimes fear and intimidation are good.
